Earlier today, deputies responded to a report of a possible explosive device near Simmons Road and Monte Brady Road. Upon arrival, deputies quickly established a safety perimeter and, with assistance from Grays Harbor County Roads and the Washington State Department of Transportation, temporarily closed nearby roadways to protect the public.

The Washington State Patrol Bomb Squad and the U.S. Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team were called in to assist with the investigation. After X-raying the object, officials determined it was an inert piece of ammunition from a World War II–era Super Bazooka.
Authorities thanked the public for their patience during the investigation and reminded residents that if they encounter a suspicious or potentially dangerous item, they should avoid handling it and contact law enforcement immediately.
This incident highlights the strong cooperation between local, state, and federal agencies — and the community — in keeping Grays Harbor safe.
