Three people were injured in a two-vehicle collision on U.S. 101 near milepost 77 in Grays Harbor County on Thursday, Sept. 24, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The patrol’s report says a southbound 1989 Chevrolet S-10 lost control and struck a northbound 2007 Honda Accord. Both vehicles came to rest in the northbound lane and were reported totaled.

The Chevrolet’s 67-year-old driver, George A. McGiveron of Cosmopolis, was injured and flown to Tacoma General Hospital. The Honda’s 22-year-old driver, whose name was withheld, and 27-year-old passenger Joshua E. Williams of Aberdeen were injured and taken to Harbor Regional Health. The report indicates all three were wearing seat belts.

The Washington State Patrol listed speed too fast for conditions as a cause and indicated drugs or alcohol were involved. McGiveron was charged with driving under the influence and vehicular assault, according to the report. Charges are allegations and do not establish guilt.

The collision was reported at about 4:14 p.m. The report does not provide further details about the circumstances or the injured people’s conditions.
