A 4-year-old girl who was the subject of a statewide Amber Alert has been found safe after an overnight search involving multiple law enforcement agencies. Authorities continue to search for her father, who is wanted on multiple felony charges.

According to the Kennewick Police Department, officers and detectives worked around the clock after it was discovered that 4-year-old Grace Susmilch had allegedly been abducted by her father, 41-year-old Matthew Susmilch. The department said it received numerous calls and public tips following the issuance of the Amber Alert.

The investigation began shortly before 11 a.m. Saturday when Kennewick Police responded to the 100 block of South Conway Place for a reported assault. Authorities said Matthew Susmilch allegedly assaulted a victim, and investigators believed Grace was inside an apartment with him. Police also believed Susmilch was armed and that the child was in danger due to the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Tri-City Regional SWAT was called to the scene to assist in safely resolving the situation. During the response, Susmilch reportedly communicated with SWAT negotiators but refused to cooperate. At approximately 3:30 p.m., SWAT determined that both Susmilch and Grace were no longer at the location, prompting detectives to intensify their investigation.

As investigators gathered additional information, they determined Grace was in immediate danger and that Susmilch had allegedly made threats to harm her. Kennewick Police requested an Amber Alert at approximately 5:38 p.m., which was issued statewide by the Washington State Patrol around 6:30 p.m.

Working alongside the Richland Police Department, West Richland Police Department, Pasco Police Department, Benton County Sheriff's Office, Washington State Department of Corrections, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the FBI, detectives located Grace in Pasco shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday. Police said she was not injured and has since been reunited with family members.

Matthew Susmilch remains at large and is wanted on charges of first-degree kidnapping, second-degree assault, and threats to kill. His current whereabouts are unknown.

Authorities urge anyone who sees Susmilch not to approach him, as he is believed to be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 immediately. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the Kennewick Police Department's tip website.

Kennewick Police thanked the many partner agencies and members of the public whose cooperation and assistance helped bring Grace home safely.
